GPS :- Global Positioning System
Increasing commercial use of the Global Positioning System will soon make it possible to locate anything, anywhere, anytime. The Global Positioning System can provide extremely accurate location Information for mobile objects and people which is far superior to earlier tracking Techniques.

GPS was developed by the United States 'Department of Defense'. It uses between 24 and 32 medium Earth Orbit satellites that transmit precise microwave signals. This enables Global Positioning System receivers to determine their current location, Time and velocity. The GPS Satellites are maintained by the United States Air Force.

Global Positioning System use in mobile phone  A-GPS, gpsONE & gpsONEXTRA Assistance technology support.

  • A-GPS :- Assisted Global Positioning System.aGPS is used to speed up times of GPS-based poitioning system. GPS may have problems getting a lock when the signal is weak and in such a case A-GPS would assist in getting a lock. This, however, is achieved by the use of an Assistance Server, So a data connection is required and charges may apply for the data transfer.

  • gpsONE :-  gpsONE is the brand name for a mobile GPS chipset manufactured by Qualcomm that allows mobile phone to lock a user's position faster by using a Technology referred to as aGPS (or) Assiste-GPS.

  • gpsONEXTRA Assistance Technology :- Qualcomm's new gpsONEXTRA Assistance Technology provides enhanced Operation by enabling a user to download a small Assistance data file through a brief Internet access session.
