EDGE INFORMATION

EDGE :- Enhanced Data for Global Evolution.

3G network is the quickest mobile broadband network that is available while an EDGE connection is via 2.5G and 2G is slightly slower, GPRS connection is via the 2G network.
EDGE is a data system used on top of GSM network. It provides nearly three times faster speeds than the outdated GPRS system. The theoretical maximum speed is 473 kbps for 8 time slots but it is typically limited to 145 kbps in order to conserve spectrum resources. Both phone and network must support EDGE (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution). Otherwise the phone will revert automatically to GPRS.
